My name is Lady Frances Brandon, mother of three daughters. My eldest girl was Jane, and I had high hopes of her marrying King Henry VIII’s son Prince Edward, they were of a similar age. Thus, I needed to make sure she was brought up properly, fit to be a queen. Then the wretched boy died. What were we to do? The only answer was to make Jane Queen in her own right, so we changed our plans.
