Subject: In the Footsteps of Moses: The Wandering Years From Exodus to the Conquest of Canaan

Lecturer: David Rohl

David continues where he left off in his last lecture, revealing the latest evidence for the location of the ‘Miracle of the Sea’, where the waters of the Reed Sea were pushed back for the Israelites to cross, while Pharaoh’s army was drowned in the returning waters. He then takes us through Sinai, following all the stages in Moses itinerary of the wilderness wanderings, before reaching Kadesh, where the Israelites stayed for many years, preparing to invade the Promised Land. Finally, after the death of Moses on Mount Nebo, Joshua leads the attacks upon Jericho and Hazor, which seal the conquest of Canaan. The final act of the Joshua narratives is the assembly at Shechem, where the twelve tribes swear an oath of loyalty to their god Yahweh before the great Covenant Stone erected there by Joshua. The people are then sent away, each to their own tribal territories.
