La Masena played host to 32 Chicas on 11 February 2015. Masena is an old established restaurant with an excellent reputation, located on the road between Benitachell and Javea, a favourite of many including myself. It is deceptively large inside, naturally divided into three sections, plus a terrace outside for summer dining.
Unfortunately some starters were disappointing. The chicken Caesar salad had prawns substituted, which some people could not eat, and made it a totally different dish from what had been ordered. Both the avocado with prawns and the carpaccio were very light on prawns, only two in each (wonder where they went?) Bearing in mind we had pre-ordered, this was really not good. Most people were happy with their main courses, and with the desserts, although quite a few people commented that the service was less friendly than usual. I suspect the problem was that this is a popular restaurant with a regular clientele, and taking on our group as well stretched them a little too far. But of course the Chicas enjoyed themselves as always, the food overall was good, and as always beautifully organised by Lynn and her team, for which many thanks.
