Barcelona
Optional trip to The Church at Monserrat with the famous Boys Choir and the Black Madonna.
3rd to 6th December 2019
– 4 days and 3 nights –

Led by:   Lynn Clark and Anne Cattle

We thought it was time to revisit the beautiful city of Barcelona.

You will see the festive Christmas lights, a variety of shops to appeal to many and also the Christmas markets.

Barcelona is famous for its exquisite architecture that forms part of the city and its surroundings.   There will be plenty of time for both sightseeing and shopping. We are also planning to visit the Boys Choir in Monserrat and we will also give you the opportunity to visit the Barcelona stadium.

On this trip we will be staying in a four star hotel in the Centre of Barcelona approximately ten minutes’ walk from the northern end of the famous and vibrant Ramblas.  Our accommodation will be on a bed and breakfast basis.  For lunch and evening meals you will find a very good selection of restaurants very close to the hotel.

Basilica at Montserrat Monastery

A visit to Montserrat Monastery is popular for three main reasons, the Gothic building of architectural significance, it is the home of Montserrat’s masses and choral concerts and, it houses what is arguably Montserrat’s most important feature – the statue of the Black Madonna.

Some of the other sights to be seen in Barcelona

Sagrada Familia is a large unfinished Roman Catholic church in Barcelona. Designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, his work on the building is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This amazing cathedral is certainly worth a visit. The tourist bus stops right outside, there is an entrance fee of around €15.

Park Guell is decorative public park composed of architectonic elements and a system of gardens also designed by Gaudi. The tourist bus stops a short walk away and this is certainly worth a visit. One café on site.

Casa Mila in the town centre easily walkable from our hotel. There are many other fantastic buildings to be enjoyed either on the Tourist bus or by walking.

Christmas Markets a wander to the Ramblas you will find lots of interesting stalls.
