February 2019 Dining Out Group meet at Antiquary restaurant, Benitachell

The venue for the Dining Out Group’s February dinner events was the Antiquary Restaurant, which is near the church in Benitachell. Easily recognisable with its dark red painted exterior walls, inside it is a cosy, L-shaped 32 seater restaurant full of atmosphere. On arrival, guests were met by charming hosts, Peter and Pauline Griffiths. The friendly, cheerful staff served us first a welcome drink, and soon brought out several varied and delicious plates of tapas to share. After a refreshing lemon sorbet we were treated to the main course.

The salmon in Papillote was particularly well received; the roast chicken was beautifully tender and moist as was the beef, presented cordon bleu style. As the restaurant has its own pizza oven, some diners chose from a huge selection, of pizzas. For dessert, the chocoholics could enjoy a superb, rich chocolate coulante, while others preferred fresh fruit salad or the Antiquary style tiramisu. A half bottle of wine each accompanied the meal which ended with coffee and liquor.

All in all, the excellent food, attentive staff and friendly company made for a very pleasant evening in this welcoming, typically Spanish restaurant. Many thanks go to Peter and Pauline for organising this very successful event.
