Date: Monday 13th October 10:30

Location: Salón de Actos, Espai la Senieta, Moraira (next to the large free car park)

Subject: The artistic talents of Winston Churchill and Adolf Hitler

Lecturer: Angela Chantry

Winston Churchill and Adolf Hitler were two highly intelligent creative men who fought a battle of epic proportions – artistic men who altered the course of history. Contemporaries suggested that had Sir Winston Churchill chosen painting instead of statesmanship, he would have been a great master. Adolf Hitler was also a painter, deeply interested in art.  Before the outbreak of World War II, Hitler told the British ambassador Neville Henderson, “I am an artist and not a politician. Once the Polish question is settled, I want to end my life as an artist”.  This presentation will examine their individual approach to painting and draw a comparison between their artistic skills.
