Well, what a way to end the year. After all the wonderful meals of 2015, we held our December lunch at Kostas Restaurant in Moraira. Christian, the owner, and his right hand woman Kiki were the most fantastic hosts and made our Christmas themed lunch the best yet, and this was endorsed by all 47 of the Chicas present!
Kostas has only been open for a year but already has a great reputation for fine dining and we were very honoured to have the entire restaurant at our disposal for the afternoon.
We all started with a plate of mixed hors d’oeuvres comprising foie gras, carpaccio, camembert and salad. This was pronounced excellent with a lovely mix of different tastes.
Between courses, Father Christmas arrived and distributed our Secret Santa presents ably assisted by Rona.
Main dishes were Beef, Sole or homemade Ravioli. My sole was divine, stuffed with prawns in a white wine sauce. Chicas who chose Beef medallions in red wine sauce gave it four stars too and one Chica who opted for ravioli said it too was so very good.
The wine was flowing steadily, provided by the very attentive staff, but a couple of people were due to leave early to keep prior appointments. However they decided, since they were having such a wonderful time that they would cancel and stay. What a good move that was, for Chicas ordering crepes for dessert, were astounded to have them flambéed at the table with cointreau by the amazing Christian.
Lynn thanked Christian, his chef and all the staff, for producing a most memorable afternoon and superb food. She then thanked her band of helpers and wished us all a Happy Christmas and we look forward to more lunches in 2016 although this one will be hard to beat.
