I have been visiting the Olive Tree restaurant since its inauguration in 1998 and have always admired the dedication of the owner Karen, who has recently handed the restaurant over to the capable hands of Sandra and Harvey. Sandra has worked alongside Karen for the past 5 years and has kept the menu in the same vein as before with a fantastic mix of international choices.
Sandra and David, the chef, are a formidable team in the kitchen, producing wonderful creations that we 35 Chicas were all thrilled to receive.
As we arrived we were greeted on the sunny terrace with a smile, cava and canapés, even the mini sausage rolls were served warm.
As with every other month I asked each table for comments which were all enthusiastically positive apart from noting that there was quite a wait for our meals, however everyone agreed that it was a worthwhile wait as the food came piping hot, creatively presented and was delicious. One Chica, a professional cook, stated her soup starter was excellent; liver too was described as the best ever served at a restaurant. The separate dishes of vegetables were well received and again served hot.
Our choices today were soup; mussels; goat’s cheese salad and fish cakes for starters. Main courses were Liver and bacon; chicken; salmon or Thai green curry.
My choice of Thai green curry was superb. Sandra said she works from the heart and this was very evident in the food and service. Well worth a visit. How can we top this lunch!
