| When you click on an email link on websites like this one, you will find that your default email software opens. If you use computer-based email software like Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird, or Windows Mail, etc and if your computer is set up to use one of those programs as the default software, then you should not have a problem.
However, if you use a web-based email service (e.g. Gmail) you must set that up as the default software otherwise you will continue to see Outlook Express (or whatever) opening up instead of Gmail. Below are instructions for setting up Gmail as your default email software. In the meantime you may wish to use the following work-around:

| For our less computer-literate members: you will see that step 1 is to "Download the Gmail Notifier". That instruction is in blue and is underlined. This means it is a link and you can click on it in order to do the download. However, the instructions you see here are only a screenshot and therefore the download link won't work. If you want to download Gmail Notifier, just click on http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/notifier_windows.html. Then continue to follow the remaining instructions below. |
