Subject: Stirling and its Role in Scotland’s History

Lecturer: Tom Stevenson

The City of Stirling sits astride the River Forth at the heart of central Scotland, with its castle commanding the gateway to the Highlands. Due to its strategic importance as a military stronghold several famous (and decisive) battles have taken place in and around Stirling. For many years Stirling was also the capital of Scotland and the castle a royal palace, where future kings and queens were born. This talk explores some of the key events in Stirling’s history, from the earliest days up to modern times.
