Visit to El Huerto de Ribera – A Valencian Orange Grove – 13th March 2024

Huerto Ribera gives us the opportunity to explore the Orange Grove, which surrounds a typical Valencian palace dating from 1870.

We can enjoy a day surrounded by nature in Carcaixent, which is the birthplace of the orange, just 40 km from Valencia. We will be able to walk among the gardens, where other fruit trees such as avocados are grown. In the orange groves we will learn about citrus cultivation, its history, the varieties, and topics such as pruning, grafting, flowering, and the all-important irrigation of the trees. Hopefully we will be able to collect and taste different citrus fruits (depending on the season), and visit the warehouse where oranges are selected, calibrated, and packed into boxes that can be purchased and delivered to your homes. We will be able to find out about the current state of Valencian citrus farming in a beautiful environment. At the end of the visit we can taste typical Valencian products such as citrus juices, Valencian liqueurs, orange sweets, homemade jams and orange blossom honey.

The Ribera Orchard has belonged to the Ribera family since 1870, it is located in Carcaixent , the birthplace of the Valencian orange for several centuries .

It is an authentic Stately Palace that is surrounded by a vast plantation of centuries-old orange trees surrounded by a masonry wall of the period and today it is the home of their family

After our visit we will go by coach into the town where there are a number of restaurants for us to explore.

The cost of the trip will be 30 euros per person including entrance to the Huerto de Ribera with a guided tour.
