Javea Players Presents “Look Out - He’s Got A Gun” @ Javea Players Studio Theatre

You are invited to the world première of this new play which is a fast-paced spoof of British crime dramas of the 1940s and ‘50s. The action-packed plot centres around a series of mysterious kidnappings at the Purple Cockatoo nightclub. Baffled, the top brass at Scotland Yard call in crime novelist and amateur sleuth Steve Dexter and his sophisticated wife Eve, to help solve the case. The Dexters leave their fashionable Mayfair flat to question suspects – and there are plenty of those, ranging from a Spanish singer with a shady past to a German inventor working on a diabolical “mind machine”. There’s also action galore as snipers take pot shots at the Dexters and their car is forced off the road.

Look Out- He’s Got a Gun
Written & Directed by Phil Mansell
will be performed at the Javea Players Studio Theatre
from  2nd to 7th December at 8pm.

The Arts Society Marina Alta 2019 Final Presentation @ Salones Canor
Dec 5 @ 10:00

Subject: The Arts Society Marina Alta next presentation on December 5th 2019 at Salones Canor Teulada.  Doors open at 10:00 am for coffee and the presentation begins at 11:00am.

For our final presentation of the 2019 season we have an intriguing lecturedealing with some of the most brilliant architectural projects of the 20th centuryby an outstanding speaker.

From Edwin Lutyen’s Everyday Surrey to Empire’s ‘Wrenaissance by Clyde Binfield.

PROFESSOR CLYDE BINFIELD OBE.

He is the complete English gentleman born in Kent , graduated from Cambridge and became Professor Emeritus in History at Sheffield university. Clyde has a passion for buildings, their creators, construction & settings. He will be exploring the rise and fall, and rise again ! of one of this country’s most respected Architects of the 20th Century, SirEdwin Lutyens, his reputation and proof of his genius.

Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens, OM, KCIE, PRA, FRIBA (29 March 1869 – 1 January 1944), was a British architect who is known for imaginatively adapting traditional architectural styles to the requirements of his era. He designed many English country houses and has been referred to as “the greatest British architect” and is known best for having an instrumental role in designing and building a section of the metropolis of Delhi, known as New Delhi, which would later on serve as the seat of the Government of India.

One of Lutyen’s most famous creations is the magnificent Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, officially known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King.  It is the seat of the Archbishop of Liverpool and the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool .

As is our usual practice after the completion of the presentation and all questions answered we will be offering a glass of wine or soft drink, to allow our members and guests to socialise with the speaker, our committee and of course each other, perhaps sharing a seasonal mince pie.

For more information on The Arts Society and directions to the venue please visit our website www.marinaaltaarts.com or for membership details Jane at membership@marinaaltaarts.com.

Unfortunately wicked zoo owner called Baron Vontrappen follows them around and gradually steals Ma’s animals. Poor Ma hasn’t paid her circus performers in weeks and then discovers that the Baron is about to steal her remaining animals.

Help comes from the handsome gypsy boy Antonio. He and Goldilocks find a cottage in the woods and as a result meet the family of bears who live there. They discover that the bears can dance and its agreed that they dance at the circus. The show is a great  success and Ma retrieves her animals from the wicked Baron who gets his just deserts. So like every good panto everybody lives happily ever and the course of true love runs smooth. Some people think it’s all make believe but some say that it’s a true story. You decide???
