Flower Arranging @ Los Leones
Mar 1 @ 14:00 – 16:00

Frequency: Weekly: Mondays 14:00 – 16:00

Venue:  Los Leones, Sol Park, Moraira

Group Leader: Tina Wallis

Flower Arranging is a very relaxing hobby. The object for each lesson is to produce a floral design to be enjoyed in your home by you and your family. It does not matter if you have no knowledge of the subject, that is what I am there for. Both male and female members are most welcome.

We now meet on a Monday at Los Leones Tennis Club 2pm to 4pm. The dates up until the end of the 2017 are October 9th October 23rd November 6th December 4th and December 18th. If members would  like to attend they must telephone me first to find out what components are required. Tel : 96583 3197.

I am a NAFAS qualified tutor, demonstrator and judge and it has been my hobby for the past 35 years.

Each session will cost 4 euros plus the components for the lesson. At the end of the session you will be told what to bring for the following one.

This is a fun thing to do and it will be a joy to share my knowledge and the use of different plant materials with you, so do come along. I look forward to hearing from you.

Creative Writing @ Aula de Asociaciones, Calle Dr. Calatayud
Mar 1 @ 15:00 – 18:00

Frequency: Weekly:  Mondays 15.00 to 18.00

Venue: Aula de Asociaciones, Calle Dr. Calatayud 45, Moraira (Upstairs Room, there is a lift)

Group Leader: Dot Garrett

At the meetings we share our individual contributions by reading aloud from the set topic suggested by the Group Leader.

We give and receive constructive criticism to help us develop our writing skills.

We are a group who either already enjoy writing or who want to start and need help. Most of all, we want to have fun. They say that everyone has a novel inside them waiting to get out. Some of us would be happy with a short story or a simple poem. Writing takes many forms and can be really rewarding especially when you share it with others.

That’s our aim in the Creative Writing Group. We want to enjoy ourselves and improve our writing at the same time through reading our work aloud, discussing it with each other, sharing ideas and penning the occasional exercise to sharpen our wits and challenge our imaginations.

As a group we are tremendously proud to have three of our members works published.

In 2018, our 10 year anniversary, we published a book of short stories called “Lucky Escapes”, available from Amazon and kindle.

Every mosaic you make is a unique creation.  Each one may be a much treasured gift, trivet, wall decoration, stepping stone, bowl or sculpture.  Mosaics also make you extremely happy while creating them.

The only skill you need is patience, but it helps if you have a sense of humour and enjoy chatting while you make your wonderful creations.  If you are a complete beginner, you will learn the basic skills making two set pieces, and after that you will develop your own individual mosaics.  I have a selection of books with great ideas and also some fantastic patterns.  I also have a comprehensive stock of tiles (over 100 different colours) which are available for you to buy.

We have recently made improvements to the workroom which include an extra workbench, an additional glass grinder and an AC unit which is heaven during the hot summer months.

Scroll down to view some of the wonderful mosaics we have made.

Rummikub 1 @ Innate Tennis Club Sol Park, Moraira
Mar 2 @ 15:00 – 17:00

Frequency: Weekly Wednesdays 15.00 – 17.00

Venue: Bar el Martillo (underneath Pepe La Sal)

Group leader: Cindy Hinton

Rummikub (also known as Rummycube, Rummyking and Rummy Tile) is a tile-based game for two to four players invented in Israel more than 50 years ago. It is not a team game, and each week players on each table will be drawn randomly to give everyone an opportunity to mix with the rest of the group.

As the name suggests, Rummikub is a variation of the card game Rummy where cards are melded to the table in ‘runs’ or ‘3 or 4 or a kind’. The difference in Rummykub is that once sets have been melded they can be manipulated with additional cards to form new sets containing at least three cards each.

rummikub01

A Rummikub Set contains 106 tiles, of which 104 are number tiles and two are joker tiles. There are four coloured sets of tiles (black, yellow, blue and red) ranging in value from one to thirteen, each combination of colour and number is represented twice. Players each have a rack to store tiles, without revealing them to the other players, similar to that used in Scrabble.

rummikub02 Rummikub can also be played with two decks of 52 standard playing cards – preferably small ones, plus two of the four jokers. Cards have their face value, with ace counting for 1, jack for 11, queen for 12 and king for 13. Because space on the playing table is limited, it is advisable to use small cards, and to deal the cards rather than taking them from a pile.

Modern Sequence Dances ( a form of dancing using ballroom steps as the basis for a wide variety of dances)

A number of U3A Moraira -Teulada members already participate in this , but we would like more members to join in.
They meet every Wednesday at 7.00 p.m. at Quo Vadis, Calle Cannes 29, Javea, near to Lagoon Ribs and Javea Go Carts,  where they are made very welcome.
Dancing until 9.00 pm summer and winter

John and Pat would love to welcome new members to this group

Dance is the perfect exercise because it not only keeps the body active but it ensures that the brain keeps active too
and is a great way to make new friends.

The purpose of the group is for its members to have a good time meeting old and new friends while dining out at different restaurants in the Moraira, Teulada and Benitachell areas. The group normally meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings of each month, from September to November and January to May, at a restaurant chosen by the hosts for that month.

Details of the chosen restaurant, menus and costs are e-mailed to all group members well in advance of the event, and it is then up to the group members, (couples and singles), to decide whether they wish to attend, and then inform the hosts with their menu choices.

Depending on the restaurant, there are six to ten people per table. Table allocation at both events each month is by each couple drawing lots, so seating is allocated, thus giving people the chance to meet new friends, at restaurants that they may not know.

The price per person for the menu will not normally be more than 25€, to include a 3 course meal, half a bottle of wine per person, water and a staff gratuity. Payment (cash only) is collected by the hosts at the event.
