In March both cohorts of the Dining group enjoyed visiting Restaurant Ca Pepe. This is a little gem tucked away a bit out of town centre on Calle Haya, and is one of my favourites. Unusually for our group all the places were pre-arranged on the request of the owners to facilitate quick and easy service of hot food to each table. Normally the first group take lucky dip on where they sit, and are able to meet different people, the second group just sit with friends. The menu at Ca Pepe is innovative, mixing unusual combinations of flavours and ingredients, and always delicious. The duck and spring onion potato hash with homemade hoisin dressing was especially popular for starters, and the crispy pork belly possibly came out tops for main course, but as everybody was delighted with their own choice it was clearly a winner. The half bottle of wine menu allowance can come in small carafes, which is another nice touch. Excellent chef, friendly efficient service, delicious food and good company. What more could you want. Ain’t life in Spain grand! And a big thank you to our hosts David and Eileen Haxon.
