Day 1: Alicante to Catania / Taormina Area
Coach to Alicante for flight to Catania airport and transfer to the 4-star Hellenia Yachting Hotel Giardini Naxos, 3km outside Taormina. Overnight stay.
Day 2: Messina & Reggio Calabria
Panoramic tour of Messina and an excursion via the ferry to Reggio di Calabria to visit the Riace Bronzes. Lunch. Return to the hotel for the overnight stay.
Day 3: Mount Etna (with wine tasting) & Taormina
Coach to the Sapienza Refuge at 1,900 metres. Option to take the cable car and/or 4×4 buses up to 2,920 metres or the permitted area (approx. €82.00 pp). Visit to a local winery for wine tasting and a light lunch. Guided tour of Taormina before return to the hotel for the overnight stay.
Day 4: Catania & Syracuse
Guided tour of Catania. Lunch. Free time for shopping a coffee and pastry, then on to Syracuse.
Overnight stay in the 4-star Hotel Hotel Mercure Siracusa Prometeo.
Day 5: Syracuse & Ortigia
Guided tour of Syracuse, the largest city of the ancient Greek world. Guided tour of the island of
Ortigia, connected to the mainland by a bridge. Lunch. Free afternoon. Back to the hotel.
Day 6: Syracuse
Free day. Overnight stay at the hotel in Syracuse.
Day 7: Syracuse – Ragusa – Agrigento
Departure to Ragusa to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site and the culmination of Europe’s flourishing Baroque period. On to Agrigento. Overnight stay in the 4-star Colleverde Park Hotel.
Day 8: Agrigento – Selinunte
Guided tour of the magnificent Valley of Temples,. Lunch. On to Selinunte for a guided visit to the Selinunte Archaeological Park, the largest in Europe and one of the most important ancient Greek sites in the Mediterranean. Dinner and overnight stay in the 4-star Mangia’s Selinunte Resort.
Day 9: Selinunte
Free day in Selinunte. Dinner and overnight stay in the 4-star Mangia’s Selinunte Resort.
Day 10: Selinunte – Erice – Palermo
Travel to the medieval town of Erice, offering breathtaking views and the opportunity to explore its Venus Castle, built by the Normans on ruins of the ancient temple of Venus. On to Palermo. Overnight stay in the 3-star Hotel Mediterraneo.
Day 11: Palermo and Monreale
A visit to the magnificent Cloister and Cathedral of Monreale, then on to Palermo, the capital of Sicily. Guided tour of the city with its many famous sites. Lunch. Free time to stroll through the city’s historic streets before returning to the hotel for the overnight stay.
Day 12: Palermo / Palermo to Valencia
Free time until the afternoon transfer to Palermo airport for the return flight to Valencia.
