Wine Group Trip to Bodegas Castaño in Yecla

Bodegas Castaño is located in Yecla, a small town in the north of the province of Murcia.  The Castaño family has always been considered a pioneer in the area, experimenting with the grape variety Monastrell to both create straight wines and blend it with other varieties, introducing the latest technology, not only in the vineyard but also in the winery and implementing new quality systems that allow a more suitable winemaking.  The bodega owns nearly 600 hectares of vineyards in different estates spread in D.O. Yecla.  

We will leave Moraira at approximately 8:30 a.m. and will arrive in Yecla at about 10:30.  We will stop for a coffee/breakfast break (not included) for approximately 45 minutes and then take a short drive to the bodega in time to meet our host, Raquel, at 11:30. 

We will then have a tour of the winery, the whole winemaking area, the barrel cellar and the bottle sanctuary. This will then be followed by a wine tasting of 3 wines in the old winery.

The visit ends in the private lounge of Bodegas Castaño with a 3-course menu prepared by the chef and paired with another 4 wines, so in total you will have the opportunity of tasting 7 different wines.  There will be a selection of 3 starters for sharing around the table and the main course will be a homemade chicken paella, followed by seasonal fruit and cheese flan.   

After lunch, you will have time to visit the shop, where you will have the opportunity to purchase the wines of your choice.  

We will depart at approximately 16:30 for our 2-hour journey home.  We will stop for a short comfort break en route if necessary.

Based on the assumption that we will have 40 bookings, the approximate cost will be 60€ per person. We have done our very best to negotiate the price. In addition, the bodega has kindly offered our group a 20% discount on all wine purchases made on the day.
