The group normally meets on the second Thursday of the month at Bar Mediterráneo in Teulada. The doors open at 17:30 and tasting starts at 18:00; we generally finish around 20:00. However, we have to be flexible in order to avoid clashing with other events and also to meet the availability of the bodegas.
In June 2018, we organised a day trip to Bodegas Castano in Yecla, where our host was a delightful young lady called Raquel. (Scroll down to read the full review of the day.) The visit was so successful that we invited the bodega to bring their wines to us for the first tasting of the new season in September 2018. A very enjoyable evening was had by all 80 members who attended this event, as you can see from the following photos.

For the past two years, we have enjoyed a special Christmas meal at Satari’s restaurant in Moraira and have included entertainment, crackers, party poppers and extra special raffle prizes. This has proved so popular that we have booked Wednesday, 28th November 2018 for the next one! Further details will be issued on 1st November.
Subject to the availability of the bodegas, we have also booked the Bar Med for the following dates next season:

As you can see from the pictures, wine tasting is, and always should be, a lot of fun!
We do not meet in July and August, and normally have a group meal in June and December.
You should bring your own wine glasses and nibbles to clear the palate! (Not a picnic please).
We put water and water glasses on the tables. There is an entry donation of €3 per person for the tastings and this includes a raffle ticket.
Tables are normally set out for 10 people. This not only helps the servers but it also helps newcomers to mix and feel welcome.
Our success is due to our founder, Ted Adams, who simply enjoyed cheap but good wines. We have since increased the ceiling from his €2 a bottle to the current €5:00 maximum. In the 3 months leading up to Christmas, we give our sponsoring bodegas the opportunity to include 2 better quality wines at a higher price.
Several of our sponsoring bodegas offer wines to us at discounted prices.
We will advise you by email of the next meeting and, if you wish to book a place, you should email us to make a reservation. We will confirm your reservation by email. Should we be fully booked, then we will add you to the reserve list and let you know. If you give us a phone number it may help for last minute changes.
If you have made a firm booking and then find that you cannot join us, please let us know as soon as possible in order that we can offer your places to other members on the reserve list. Cancellations are taken up to 9:00 a.m. on the day of the tastings. If you cancel after this time or do not show at the tasting, then you will be liable to pay the 3 euro entrance fee.
To be totally fair to everyone we do not take early booking requests – they are taken in the order that emails come in from the main invitation email. If you know that you might not be able to access your emails, then it is fine for you to ask someone else to make a reservation in your name.
