One of the main attractions is the majestic Monumental Nativity Scene\, featuring life-sized figures of the Virgin Mary\, Baby Jesus\, Saint Joseph and the Three Kings. A highlight is the large\, conical Christmas tree\, which serves as a prominent landmark \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt 8pm we will return to the coach for our journey to Moraira\, arriving at approximately 9.15. \n\n\n\nSometimes changes will have to be made to schedules and prices\, this will only happen when outside of our control and we will notify you of these changes. When booking trips it will be taken that you will accept any necessary changes. \n\n\n\nPLEASE NOTE:- Monies paid for trips are Non-refundable unless we can resell the cancelled places or the travel group cancels the trip when all monies will be refunded. SUMMARY:JAVEA – Golfclub Around the paths and woods of Ladoga / Las Laderas - Thur
DESCRIPTION:Walk Leaders: Barry \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeeting PointCALLE LAGO TANGANYKA parking area. GPS: 38°45’07.1″N 0°09’47.4″EWalking RouteDistance : 4\,5 kmAround the woods and tracks of the Ladoga and Las Laderas area.TerrainWalking SurfaceSome tarmac roads\, many compacted dirt paths (some rough).AscentSome modest climbs\, nothing severe.Directions to Meeting PointFrom Moraira:Drive to Benitachell and turn right at the traffic lights. Go straight on at the next lights. After passing the large furniture store (Devygar Mobles) turn right. Take the 2nd exit at the next roundabout and go past the entrance to Cansalades Park on the right. After 400m there is a junction where the main road bends to the right\, but you need to turn LEFT in front of the large concrete sign LAS LADERAS\, into Calle Lago Como. From Jávea:From the Mas y Mas supermarket\, take the road towards Benitachell up the hill. 600 metres after passing the Inn on the Green bowls club\, the road bends left at the old El Campo restaurant. There are two roads on the right hand side as the road bends left. Take the second of these two roads Calle Lago Como; do not take the road immediately alongside the restaurant.Drive past the parking area on the right\, up to the top of the hill and round the right hand bend. Then take the first left into CALLE LAGO VANERN and then bear right into CALLE LAGO TANGANYKA. Park here.walk#27\n\n\n\nWalk Description\n\n\n\n\nWalk towards Calle Lago Como\, this is continue from where you came with the car. Turn left and walk to the junction of carrer lago aral and cami de la sabatera.\n\n\n\nContinue here on Cami de la Sabatera. which is a narrow tarmac road that goes downhill. You need to be aware of traffic\, although the road isn’t busy. The gradient eases off after ½ km\, and although there are one or two house it is mostly fields on either side of the road.\n\n\n\nAfter ¾ km (from Aral)\, as you approach some houses (ahead\, slightly right)\, you need to look for a narrow dirt path on your left. [The road bends slightly right at the point where the path is and there is another path\, to theright\, almost opposite\, going towards a house with arches.] Turn left\, ignoring the side track to the right\, and walk down this narrow straight dirt path.\n\n\n\nThis path has fields on either side\, passes a couple of ruined small casitas and the golf club is visible across the fields to the right after a while. You are now walking along Lago Eire\, which eventually passes a house as itbecomes a road. Walk on to the crossroads with Lago Saimaa.\n\n\n\nAt the crossroads\, go straight across and take the second path on the right into the woods. [There are two tracks running through these woods both parallel to Calle Lago Saimaa and both emerge at the same point.Your choice\, but the second one is considered nicer.]\n\n\n\nWalk through the woods\, with an open area sometimes on the left . At the end\, turn right and shortly (20m) you will reach a T-junction with Lago Saimaa. Turn left onto this very wide road\, and around the bend\n\n\n\nWalk down Calle Lago Saimaa towards the T-junction with Ladoga. Turn left and follow the tarmac road. Continue straight on when the tarmac gives way to gravel/dirt.\n\n\n\nJust before the gravel road reaches the main Cansalades road\, there is a turning on the left\, Calle de Lago Aral.Turn left here into Lago Aral.\n\n\n\n80m later\, Lago Aral turns left off the tarmac onto a rough wide track. Lago Aral dog-legs right\, left and right again up a slight hill\, before it goes into the edge of a wooded area. There are views to your right of the northside of Cumbre del Sol and all the boxy houses built there.\n\n\n\nThe wooded area on the left ends and the track goes alongside a wooded area on the right. After passing a wide track on the left going to a house (Lago Baljash on the map)\, our track enters another wooded area.\n\n\n\nJust before the end of the wooded area is a short track on the left. Go up this track\, walk round the chain and turn right towards the road. You are now on Lago Yojoa. You will pass houses on both sides.\n\n\n\nWhen Lago Yojoa turns left\, you should turn right onto a wide but rough track going downhill to start with and then uphill to pass between two stable ar eas normally stocked with many horses.\n\n\n\nThis track bears right before it meets Lago Aral again at a T-junction. Turn left here.\n\n\n\nAs you walk along Lago Aral there are great views of Montgó in the distance to your left until the track enters another wooded area. The track is rough and uneven here.\n\n\n\nWhen Lago Balatón joins Lago Aral (from right) then the track becomes a tarmac road. Stay on Lago Aral as it passes houses on both sides\, climbing the hill until reaching a sort of crossroads.\n\n\n\nTurn right into Calle Lago Como which is a tarmac road. Walk up till the next road on the left. Turn left into CALLE LAGO TANGANYKA where your car is parked

Take the Calle de San Lorenzo road pass the picnic and playground area on the left. The road starts to climb and narrow as the surroundings become more rural.\n\n\n\nThe tarmac road bends sharply to the left but you should keep to the right and after approximately 300 meters the tarmac road ends. At this point you will see a house on your right and a pigeon/chicken farm on your left. Go straight ahead\, take the narrow track adjacent to the farm fence and walk towards the open countryside.\n\n\n\nContinue on the single track passing a ruined finca on your left and another on the right. A short distance ahead you will see a small concrete building. Continue straight on until you reach the road.\n\n\n\nThis is Calle del Mar Arabigo. Turn left here along the road and just before you reach the wooded area (there is a pylon on the left)\, turn left up a wide track that then bends right uphill. This track meets a wide track at right angles – go straight across.\n\n\n\nThe track narrows\, quite steeply uphill. Continue up the hill until you reach a path on the right. Take this sharp right turn downhill until it reaches a wide track where you turn left.\n\n\n\nYou are now on Carrer del Lago Superior\, a wide stony track through the woods. Continue on this path for about ¾ km during which you will pass a derelict villa on the right opposite a clearing and a second clearing on the left.\n\n\n\nStay on the track until you reach a crossroads and a red fire hydrant\, turn right and go down the slight hill. As you clear the wooded area ignore initial tracks to the left and right and take the track with a meter high stone wall on its left.\n\n\n\nFollow this track towards a house\, as the track reaches the house then it turns sharp right and goes downhill. After a short distance take the second single path on the left into a wooded area and continue walking along this track until you reach a small number of houses. At this point the track becomes a tarmac road.\n\n\n\nContinue down on this road (Calle del mar Arabigo) and at the bottom of the hill stay on the tarmac road as it bends to the right and heads towards a large house on the left. Turn left at the house and remain on the tarmac road.\n\n\n\nWalk down the road until you reach the track you walked earlier\, and turning right along it re trace your route back to the start

SUMMARY:The History of the Automobile
DESCRIPTION:Because we are increasingly finding it more difficult to find good speakers willing to spend hours researching their subject and then presenting it to our members we must\, very occasionally\, repeat and old talk. This time it is one which was presented eight years ago – although it is considerable modified from the original. \n\n\n\nSo\, this talk is The History of the Automobile and it is entirely non-technical so it will\, hopefully\, interest everyone. \n\n\n\nIt will cover from the oldest car which is still in full running order today\, to the proposed designs of the future. It will also include some of the strangest vehicles ever produced to those popular vehicles from the 50’s and 60’s which will hold so many happy memories for many of our members.

SUMMARY:La Malinche and the fall of the Aztec Empire: Heroine or Traitor?
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Angela Chantry \n\n\n\nIn the early 16th century Hernán Cortés and his conquistadors defeated the great Aztec Empire\, built a new city for colonists from Spain and took control of vast lands stretching from today’s south-western U.S. down through most of Central America. A story not often told\, however\, is that one of the reasons for the success of this conquest was the invaluable help of a woman\, Princess Malinalli\, known today as La Malinche. Born around 1500 to nobleparents\, after the death of her father and re-marriage of her mother\, she was sold into slavery to Mayan traders who in turn sold her to the Spanish invaders. Her facility with languages brought her to the attention of Cortés\, who used her as a translator and confidante. She was known to the Spanish as Doña Marina and was the mother of Cortés’ first son\, Martin. La Malinche is often described as the embodiment of a new culture\, one in which the mixing of races\, Spanish and Aztec\, created a new world. This view is not shared by all Mexicans\, however. For some\, La Malinche is the symbol of a great betrayal that led to the death of millions of her fellow indigenous people. \n\n\n\n\nLa Malinche standing between theAztec Leader\, Moctezuma II\, andHernán Cortés. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nA statue of La Malinche\, Cortés\,and their son\, Martín\, in MexicoCity.

Path to the Windmills is quite rocky.Ascent Mostly flat. Modest hills.Directions to Meeting PointFrom Moraira:Take the road to Benitachell\, in the centre of the village turn right at the traffic lights and drive towards  Javea on the CV734. Continue on this road passing the golf course and then a garden centre\, both on the  right. Go straight across the next roundabout and over the narrow road bridge. At the next roundabout  turn right pass the Ferrobox store on your right and head towards Javea. On the next roundabout come  back on yourself past the Repsol petrol station on your right and after approximately 60 meters turn right into avenida Ondara. At the next roundabout go straight across and keep to the right. Travel up the slight  hill until you reach another roundabout\, take the second exit to Denia. After approximately 2km of a steep  and windy road turn right at the signpost which directs you to the lighthouse. The Amanecer restaurant  will come into view on your right after approximately 300 meters. From Javea: Take the CV7362 route over Mongo from Javea to Denia. Travel up the slight hill until you reach another  roundabout\, take the second exit to Denia. After approximately 2km of a steep and windy road turn right  at the signpost which directs you to the lighthouse. The Amanecer restaurant will come into view on your  right after approximately 300 meters.\n\n\n\nWalk Description\n\n\n\n\nFrom Amancera Restaurant walk left back towards the Javea–Denia road and then take the first turning on the right along a gravel road. Continue on this road.\n\n\n\nThe road bears right at a ruined finca and very shortly after this bend (~2 metres) there is a dirt/mud path on the left. Turn left onto the dirt path and walk alongside the ruin.\n\n\n\nFollow the dirt path until it emerges to join the track Cova Tallada (unmarked). Turn sharp left into Cova Tallada and follow it all the way back to the main road\, passing the basura/bins.\n\n\n\nAt the main road\, cross straight over into Cami dels Molins and keep walking straight on.\n\n\n\nContinue past Cami de Creuat (on the left) and follow Cami dels Molins up a hill. Before reaching the top there is a small path to the right that leads to three windmills. Take this path to visit the windmills. Great opportunities for photos here. Afterwards re-trace your route to the road and turn right..\n\n\n\nA little further on\, the road bends around to the left and provides fine views of Jávea.\n\n\n\nGo past the trees blocking the view and as the road starts to bend left\, there is a path to the right which leads over the rocks\, down and then up to the Windmills. It is signposted to the “Mirador Els Molins”. Follow this path.\n\n\n\nThe path is rough to start with as it descends and care is needed but gets better as it rises. Walk up to the level of the windmills and enjoy the view of the Jávea area.\n\n\n\nContinue on behind the Windmills following the path past all these windmills to the small car park at the entrance.\n\n\n\nHere you will join Cami del Monastir which leads to the Monasterio. Ignore the turning to the right (Carrer Penáguila) and continue down the tree lined dusty lane.\n\n\n\nNear the bottom you will see the wall of the Monasterio\, seemingly blocking the lane.\n\n\n\nWhen you get about 100 metres before the “wall”\, there is a narrow path off to the left. It has old low stone walls on both sides. [If you reach the “wall” then you have missed the turning]. Turn left onto this path and follow it towards the house in the distance. It will dog-leg around the house and eventually join Cami de Pedres.\n\n\n\nTurn left here and then immediately right down Cami de Creuat. It dog-legs left and right before it appears to bend to the left again. Do not turn left but continue on the track straight ahead (still Cami de Creuat). Soon you will reach a T-junction.\n\n\n\nIn a masterpiece of town planning and urban control\, someone has built a house right across the route of Cami de Creuat. Luckily\, there is a path to the left which skirts this folly. So turn left at this T junction\, the path then turns right and runs alongside the offending house.\n\n\n\nNotice the white dome shaped igloo-like building in the trees on the left. The path then turns right and left to rejoin Cami de Creuat. Walk down Cami de Creuat away from “that house”.\n\n\n\nAt the T-junction\, turn right into Cami dels Molins. Walk back to the main road Ctra del Cap de Sant Antoni and turn right return the short distance to the Amanecer restaurant.

SUMMARY:Naïve Art
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Rosalind Miranda \n\n\n\nNaïve Art is usually is usually defined as art that is created by a person who lacks the formal education and training that a professional artist undergoes\, & is characterized by childlike simplicity & frankness of execution and vision. It is simple\, unaffected\, and unsophisticated. In the right hands\, however\, this does not make it any less appealing than the work of trained artists\, as you will see. Sometimes it even has extra appeal. It warms the heart and soothes the soul! \n\n\n\nIn this talk\, we’ll be looking at three artists\, one French\, one American\, & one British. Two of them didn’t start painting until their 40s\, one not until her late 70s. But today\, their works are being sold for millions.  \n\n\n\nSo\, come along\, perhaps to be inspired to take up painting or another craft in retirement. Who knows? You could be the next artistic sensation! \n\n\n\nNAÏVE ART \n\n\n\nor \n\n\n\nLATE BLOOMERS \n\n\n\nor \n\n\n\nThere’s Hope for Us All

(5.2 kms)What3words: puddles.thinking.plinthMeeting PointCumbre Del Sol calle Dalias behind the Information Centre (Benitachell side).Use View Venue Website below for precise location. What3words: compress.seaside.geckoWalking RouteDistance : 5 kmfull 6 km / short 5\,2 kmTerrainWalking SurfaceSome rough gravel tracks. Major hills are concrete roads.AscentTwo major hills to descend and ascend.Directions to Meeting PointFrom Moraira:Turn right at Benitachell traffic lights. At the next traffic lights turn right up the hill to Cumbre. From Jávea:Go to Benitachell and turn left at traffic lights after Mas y Mas. Follow road up the long hill. After the sharp right hand bend at the top\, go down the hill\, past the information centre on the right\, U-turn and pass the other information centre and immediately turn sharp right into the side road behind the centre. Park here.\n\n\n\nWalk Description\n\n\n\n\nWalk up the slight hill away from the cars.\n\n\n\nAt the end of this road\, turn left and then left again.\n\n\n\nAfter 20 metres\, take the track to the right. Go under/over/around the chained entrance to the Park. 50 metres down this track\, it turns sharply to the right.\n\n\n\nThe track is concreted as it bends to descend the hill. Eventually it will become a better gravel path.\n\n\n\nFollow this track “Travesia Sud de Parc” for about 2 kilometres enjoying the views. There are no paths or tracks joining your route on this section. There is a deep valley to your right.\n\n\n\nEventually the track reaches a viewing point that overlooks Granadella playa to the front and right (although you cannot see the actual beach). There is even a stone bench here.\n\n\n\nThe track turns sharp left at this point and then becomes a concrete road just before it descends steeply to the barranca below.\n\n\n\nAt this stage you have a choice.Choice 1 (to avoid the main hills)\n\n\n\nThe path ahead is very steep down to the barranc and then back up again\, followed by a steep ascent later on. If you don’t want to do this\, then you can turn around and retrace your footsteps back to the car. The views on the return include those awful terraces of apartments near the top of Cumbre\, so you might need dark sunglasses.\n\n\n\nYou will have to climb the steep hill back to the Park entrance. When you reach a T-junction with a tarmac road\, turn left\, then right and right again to return to the Info Centre.Choice 2 ( Full walk)\n\n\n\nTo continue on\, descend to the bottom of the (normally dry) barranc via “Deep Gorge Cami”. The concrete surface has small stones scattered about so care is needed.\n\n\n\nTurn sharp left to continue on up the “Deep Gorge Cami” concrete road back up the other side. This is a verysteep descent and ascent\, but taken slowly (10 mins total)\, it is not difficult.\n\n\n\nOnce you have regained the altitude you lost on the descent\, the road changes back into a track. Follow it until it joins another track at a T-junction.\n\n\n\nFollow the “Travesia Nord de Parc” track across a level area before it starts another ascent up a long steep concrete hill (well mostly concrete\, but the higher parts are rough and rocky!).\n\n\n\nThis will level out and lead you across a picturesque part of the park with views to the sea on your left and toMontgo on your right.\n\n\n\nEventually the track will lead to another chained entrance as you leave the Park and reach a parking area.Just before the main road (~20 metres) there is a dirt path to the left that cuts the corner and emerges onto the main road [If you cannot find the path then continue straight on].\n\n\n\nWhen you reach the main road\, turn left and walk down the slight hill back to the Info Centre on the right.

SUMMARY:IKEA & CONDOMINA SHOPPING CENTRE - MURCIA
DESCRIPTION:Trip Leaders: Jacqui Bayliss & Amanda Jordan \n\n\n\nThe Nueva Condomina is the perfect shopping experience containing many outlets such as C&A\, H&M\,  & Primark\, as well as a selection of restaurants and snack areas. On the outskirts of the Mall\, a short stroll away\, there are numerous other outlets e.g. Media Markt etc. \n\n\n\nWhether you are re-vamping your kitchen or searching for small decorative items\, then Ikea is the place to visit. You will also be able to recharge your batteries by visiting the Ikea restaurant. The restaurant is open all day long whether it be for a cup of coffee\, a satisfying salad or\, of course\, a plate of your favourite meatballs. \n\n\n\nIf you don’t wish to shop\, you can take the tram which runs approximately every 15 minutes from the Shopping Mall into the centre of Murcia city.  \n\n\n\nBoth shopping areas have something for everyone\, so enjoy the day out with your friends and the U3A. \n\n\n\nWe will depart Moraira at 8:30. First stop will be Nueva Condomina followed by Ikea\, where the coach will remain until 1pm. It will then do a changeover\, giving you the choice of visiting both areas. \n\n\n\nThe coach will leave Ikea at 4pm\, arriving at Condomina at approximately 4.15 to pick up the rest of the group. Please be there 10 mins before departure time. \n\n\n\nThis trip is available to U3A Members. Non-members can join here (10€). SUMMARY:The History of The Samurai
DESCRIPTION:Spèaker: John Hopwood \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo Understand The Background And Emergence Of The Samurai We Must Look At Japan’s Early History\, Mainly From Around The Year 800ad. \n\n\n\nEveryone Knows Something About The Samurai. The Literal Translation Means One Who Serves. \n\n\n\nFor Many Years\, They Were The Warrior Class In Japan And Whilst They Had A Tradition Of Gallantry\, They Were Sometimes Quite Ruthless And They Also Had The Right To Kill Anyone Who They Thought Did Not Show Them Sufficient Respect. \n\n\n\nThis Led To The Development Of What Was Called Bushido – Or\, The Way Of The Warrior – By Which The Samurai Maintained Both Their Moral And Military Values Through Training And With The Sword. Codes Of Behaviour Evolved Around The Samurai Tradition Of Absolute Loyalty And Willingness To Die For One’s Master. \n\n\n\nThe Samurai Were The Warrior Class In Japan From Around The Year 1150 And They Continued For Approximately Seven Hundred Years During The Period When Shoguns Ruled Japan Until The Mid Eighteen Hundreds – So To The Mid 19th Century – When They Were Mostly Disbanded Because In 1868 The Shogun Of That Time Abdicated In Favour Of The Emperor.
