In 1950s London, a humourless civil servant decides to take time off work to experience
life after receiving a grim diagnosis.
In this film the brilliant Bill Nighy gives one of the subtlest performances of his career in
this graceful, affecting remake of Kurosawa’s 1952 Japanese drama Ikiru. The story of a
man given months to live has been elegantly transposed to 1950s London and works
magnificently.
