First Wine Tasting of 2018

by Rosemary Sheppard

On what was probably the coldest day of the year so far, 77 stalwart members of the Moraira-Teulada U3A Wine Tasting Group gathered at the Bar Mediterráneo in Teulada on Thursday, February 8th, for the first tasting evening of 2018.

Once again, we were pleased to welcome our good friends Jaime and Laura from Bodegas Bleda, based in Jumilla, Murcia, who had brought along for our delectation a selection of their fine wines – two blancos, a rosado and two tintos.

An extremely enjoyable evening ensued, with members meeting up with old friends and making new ones while they set about the pleasant task of sampling each of the five wines. These all went down very well so much so that Jaime was more than gratified with the number of members who queued up at the end of the proceedings to buy cases of the wines tasted, a completely worthwhile outcome to the time and trouble he and Laura had taken to visit us.

It’s certainly true to say that the occasion was thoroughly enjoyed by all those in attendance, and grateful thanks go not only to the Bodega but to Pat and Brian Clarke who once again organised such a memorable event.
