How to join a Zoom meeting
In order to participate in a Zoom meeting, all you need is a computer, (desktop, laptop, tablet or even a smart phone) and an internet connection. You do not need to download the Zoom app, but it may be easier if you do. Register for the meeting by emailing Pat Clarke, Membership Secretary Closer to the 7th June, we will send an email containing a link to the Zoom Meeting Room we are using for the meeting. The link contains the Meeting ID and password which is unique to our U3A.
Joining the meeting: Simply click on the link in the email just before the meeting is due to start at 10:30. You will go straight to the Zoom meeting. Alternatively, you can enter the meeting ID number and passcode in the “Join Meeting” section on the Zoom website or app. When you are joining, click on ‘use video’ and then ‘use internet audio’ buttons.
During the meeting: Audience members will be muted to avoid background noise, but you can ask to speak at the meeting by using the hand icon or ask question using the “Chat” bar.
Asking questions: On a desktop or laptop, click Chat in the meeting control bar at the bottom or side of the screen
On a mobile device tap the screen to make the control bar appear, then tap Participants and at the bottom of the list tap Chat. The chat bar/screen shows the chat history and in here you can write and share messages (similar to texting). All the meeting participants will be able to see what you post. You can also hide and make reappear the chat screen at any time during the Zoom meeting.
We hope you can join us.
Prue Jackson, President
