Samuel Pepys is mainly known as a ‘dirty old man’ of history. He is famed as a diarist who wrote of his gallivanting escapades in a secret code so that his wife would not find him out. Yet, there was so much more to him that your presenter firmly holds that he deserves a monument amongst ‘the greats’ in Whitehall itself.
