President’s Address:

David welcomed everyone to the first General Monthly Meeting of 2019, advising that last year, in terms of Membership numbers, it had been a record year and hoped the U3A would continue to prosper. David thanked Pat, the Membership Secretary, for the amount of preparation she had put in to ensure the smooth running of the procedure for New and Renewals. He also thanked the many volunteers who assist Pat. David and Eileen had recently returned from the UK after visiting their family over the Christmas period. Although they had enjoyed their visit, it was good to return to Moraira their home. An evening in Moraira watching the Three Kings celebrations was enjoyed by people of different nationalities as well as many U3A members. David ended by wishing everyone a Happy New Year and hoped the various activities of the U3A continued to be enjoyed by the members.

Dot urged anyone finding themselves in the same position should contact the Guadia Civil. Dot said the U3A website was being updated and Piotr Azia and Peter Bayliss were working hard on this on-going job. The AGM was fast approaching and Dot urged any member wishing to give some time to the U3A to look at the job descriptions of Committee positions on the website, completing a form if necessary.
