University of the Third Age Moraira-Teulada
Minutes of the Monthly Meeting held on 6th November 2017
at the Salon G.L., Teulada at 10:30

It is confirmed that the President and Secretary attended this General Meeting as voted in at the Meeting on 6th March 2017.

John Hopwood welcomed everybody to the Meeting and confirmed the Security checks had been completed and mentioned the emergency procedures in the event of the evacuation of the building. John also asked everybody to switch off their mobile phones.
David Haxon, the Vice President, read the Synopsis of the minutes of the Meeting held on 2nd October 2017. The full minutes had been posted on the website and were proposed by Carlton Potter and seconded by Sue Donadio.

President’s Address:
John said he would keep his address brief due to a fair amount of exposure in the recent Newsletters. John said he had organised a meeting of Local U3A President´s with representatives from Denia, Javea, Calpe, Vall de Pop and Oliva, as well as Moraira-Teulada. This will take place on Wednesday 8th November 2017 and John hopes they will be able to discuss problems and successes and hopes it will be a meeting which will benefit all of the U3A Groups by sharing information and ideas. Referring to our U3A, John said the Committee retires in March and at least three members will not be standing for re-election. Therefore John asked for just a few of the U3A Members to step forward and become more involved, speaking to any of the Committee to find out more. John did not want Moraira-Teulada U3A to have the same kind of problems that other local U3A´s have, due to lack of support from the Members. John said Committee Members, Group Leaders or members who have accepted any responsibility for the organisation, are helpers and volunteers and cannot be expected to necessarily reply to messages sent or enquires made, by return or even the same day.

To be held at Spencers Bar, on the Moraira-Calpe road, starting at 10:30 with a weigh-in followed by a talk.
