The group met on Friday 31 October for our usual monthly meeting. We met at the Alcazar restaurant which is a very pleasant venue where hopefully we will continue to meet for the foreseeable future.
Our very first meeting was in November 2007 when we discussed our first book, The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards. Since then, we have read, discussed and reviewed over 250 books.
Our standout favourites, as voted on, were
Small Things like These by Clare Keegan.
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus.
Red Notice, a non-fiction political thriller by Bob Browder.
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.
And most recently, Days without End by Sebastian Barry.

Our current membership stands at about 14 members some of whom are swallows.
It continues to be an informal fun group of avid readers. Invariably the book under discussion raises all manner of topics to debate.
We are always happy to welcome new members to the group, and as I continue to stress it doesn’t matter if you don’t like or enjoy the book because the reasons for this are often as interesting and of equal value to the discussion.
Finally: Thank you to all the group for their constant commitment enthusiasm and fun.

The next book for discussion at the end of November is Precipice” by Robert Harris (Political Scandal)
