September 2022 Dining Out at A’ Cas’ e Renat’ in Moraira

After the usual summer break the Dining Out group held 2 events at the Italian Restaurant A’ Cas’ e Renat’ in Moraira during September. The restaurant sits in the heart of the town and opened earlier this year.

The owners come from Naples, with Renato and his wife, head chef Maria, providing dishes typical from of that area of Italy; A’ Cas’ e Renat’ did just that for us.

To start there was a delicious and varied plate of antipasto, which included a very soft centred mozzarella cheese ball, hot spicy chorizo slices, sundried tomatoes and strings of pickled aubergine. In addition to the restaurant’s speciality of pasta and Napoli styled pizzas, Maria had prepared oven baked chicken breast with mushrooms and onions, or pork baked with sweet peppers and olives, and many diners commented on how tender both meats were. One diner said she could “taste the sea” in the calamari strips cooked with tomato, onions and olives. Desserts included tiramisu and profiteroles. But instead of the profiteroles being balls of choux pastry injected with cream and chocolate on the top, we had the dish served in a conical glass with the cream on the bottom, then layers of thin choux pastry which was covered in deep soft dark chocolate. A different presentation which tasted delicious!

The 30€ cost included the usual half bottle of wine, water and a staff gratuity which represented good value in these times of sharply increased energy and food prices.

This was the first time that most of our diners had been to this newish addition to the Moraira restaurant scene and we were recommended it by one of our group members. The feedback we received from many who attended the events was very good, quoting excellent food, which was very well presented and good value for money. If you like Italian food cooked the Napoli way, the A’ Cas’ e Renat’ restaurant is well worth going to. (Check the online reviews)
