U3A raises over €4000 to help people of Ukraine – May 2022

On 10th May 2022 a concert was held in La Senieta, featuring The Entertainers, a group of singers and musicians who lived up to their name and delighted their audience  with a wide range of songs including ballads and some very well known dance music. Members who attended were amazed at the professionalism of this group, who are all volunteers, and who perform exclusively in aid of charities.

Everyone had a great night and the generosity of members helped us to raise over €3250 from this event alone. A big thank you goes to all members who volunteered to help on the night.

Fundraising efforts by members also included a cake stall at the Europe Day celebrations in Font Santa on 7th May which raised €260 . The stall was run by Cindy Hinton and her helpers, and members donated a variety of delicious home made cakes for the stall.

Pat Dawson and her Knit & Natter group have also raised over €200 by making and selling ‘Jubilee Teds’ and a collection of loose change has also added to the fund, making the total to just over €4000.

So far, we have donated €2000 to the Red Cross and €1000 to USPG (partners of Anglican Chaplaincy). We are still investigating a local charity.
