In the early 70s I worked in a major London casino and, as a "behind the scenes" worker, helped to organise what was at the time the biggest backgammon tournament in the world for professional players (yes there were and may still be professional players). I knew absolutely nothing about the game and had never seen it before. However, the unique nature of the game fascinated me as I had never, and still have never, seen a dice game that involves skill. I learned to play by watching the professionals, and have been hooked ever since.

Whatever level you play at, from novices to experts, I would be happy to organise leagues and tournaments. Also if you are an absolute beginner and have hidden away somewhere one of those funny boards with 24 triangular points which you never quite known what to do with, I'd be more than happy to teach you.

The rules of the game are extremely simple (it's a bit like up-market Ludo) and once you know the basics you will quickly learn to form your own style and tactics.

Backgammon is both fun and sociable and I would be delighted to have members join me in playing. You too could be hooked, if you're not already.
