Walking Group Activities autumn 2023

Walking Gata Colegio to Nature reserve

Walks began on 21st September with an amazing 32 walkers doing an easy walk from Rafalets. The glorious weather has encouraged walkers and numbers continued above 30 until 31st October when 38 walked one of the more difficult but prettiest walks in the schedule at the Gata Nature Reserve.

At some of the rest stops a walker will give some interesting facts like why the church windows in Teulada are so high up and small, or that you can see Ibiza and Formentera in early spring.

Walk Leaders sometimes lead the walks in the opposite direction on Thursdays which gives walkers a completely different aspect. Large numbers have also stopped for coffee after the walk and Walk Leaders have found several different places to stop.

Several new members have joined the group making almost 200 registered walkers. Some have walked since the beginning of the Group in 2009, although they are a little slower now!

At present walks on the schedule are being sorted with some having to be eliminated due to closed roads or parking areas, but Leaders are creating new walks to be included in the Spring season.
